Part of the Les Trois Vallées, Courchevel is a well-known French ski resort located approximately 150km south of Morzine. The four towns of Courchevel are each named after their altitudes in metres; Courchevel 1300 (Le Praz), Courchevel 1650 (Moriond), Courchevel 1550 and Courchevel 1850. For those of you travelling from Courchevel to Morzine, we’ve put together some useful information on how to get here.

By Car

The easiest and fastest way to get to Morzine from Courchevel is by car. The route, which takes you along the N90 and A40, takes around 2 hours and 30 minutes – and offers gorgeous Alpine views. The best places to stop along the way include Albertville, Cluses and Sallanches. You can also stop by Geneva on the way to Morzine by taking the A41 and passing through Chambéry. Visiting Geneva would only add an additional one hour to your driving time, and it is a fantastic opportunity to visit the scenic Swiss city.

By Bus

When travelling to Morzine from Courchevel by bus, the best way is to transfer at Geneva. The first leg of the journey from Courchevel to Geneva usually takes between 2 to 3 hours. A link to book this bus can be found here. Alternatively, there is a shuttle bus service from Meribel Village to Geneva airport that takes around 3 hours. A short taxi journey would also be required from Courchevel to Meribel Village. Details of this shuttle service can be found here.

Once at Geneva, the bus to Morzine then takes approximately 1 hour and 45 minutes. For a more frequent service, it might be best to take the bus from Geneva Airport, rather than from the bus station. Details of this service can be found here.

By Train

Although it is possible to reach Morzine by train from Courchevel, it is not the most convenient route. Travelling by train would require taking the train from Moûtiers Salins Brides les Bains to Cluses, with a changeover at Chambéry-Challes-les-Eaux. Taxis would also need to be taken to reach Moûtiers Salins Brides les Bains and Cluses from Courchevel and Morzine. The entire journey, excluding transfer time, would take approximately 5 hours and the services do not run as frequently as the bus services.
