There is no doubt that Morzine is a winter wonderland, but there are plenty of activities to keep you busy in the springtime too. From skiing and snowboarding to cycling and hiking, Morzine has something for everyone. Plus, with the warmer weather and longer days, the town comes alive with a buzzing energy. Read on for our top recommendations for spring activities in Morzine.
Late Season Skiing
It’s not too early yet for some winter sun in Morzine. It may be cold, but there are still plenty of high altitudes to enjoy this fresh powder. Morzine is the perfect place to ski in early Springtime.
Thanks to its high altitudes, there’s still plenty of snow at top-of-the mountain, and you can enjoy it without crowds! The lifts will be open longer hours so that means more time spent on your skis with less risk for sunburn too. Less crowds and more sun adds up to lift availability opening up, for cheaper and longer. After you’ve had your fun skiing, you can still spend some time in the sun back at your apartment.
Cycling
In Morzine cyclists are spoiled for choice. At the tourists office you can pick up a guide which details the best routes to cycle! These include Col de la Ramaz, the Col d’Avoriaz, or the Col de Joux Plane. The difficulty of routes range from family friendly to experienced mountain biking. You can hire a guide to get the most out of your mountain biking holiday also!
There are two friendlier routes for the less advanced cyclists. One is the Pont des Gets. This route is 50 kilometers, with a 10 kilometer stretch that is entirely downhill. The other is a little longer and more difficult, Lake Geneva. This ride can vary from 80 kilometers to 250 if you decide to go the advanced route. The short route is that there are ferries to catch back over to the other side of the lake if you decide to cycle around!
Escape Room
One of the group activities that spikes in popularity during the spring and summer seasons is Le Room escape room. The perfect group activity for your group who are staying at Aiglon Morzine apartments, as it is only a ten minute walk from the apartments!
If you’ve never been to an escape room before it’s name is almost self explanatory. You and your team work together to solve puzzles and piece clues together to escape the room you’ve been put in. Usually there is a narrative or theme, like convicts escaping jail. This is a fun activity that is sure to create a lot of memories regardless of if you ‘win’ by escaping or not. We recommend if you are interested in Le Room to book ahead as it is quite popular!
Go for a dip
Morzine has many locations to offer you a quick dip in the sun! There is the Aquariaz water park in Avoriaz and Parc Des Dereches in Morzine. In Aquariaz water park it has the lazy river, a half pipe, and waterslides for all ages! Parc Des Dereches features both indoor and outdoor swimming pools, with facilities such as water slides for smaller children. During the spring and Summer time they open up a beach volleyball court outdoors, along with a bouncy castle! You are free to bring a picnic as the outdoor areas of the facility have lovely lawns to enjoy your lunch on.
Swimming is a great way to keep up your ski fitness too. It’s a great aerobic activity to add to your fitness routine in the off-season or anytime you aren’t able to access the mountains.
Yoga in Morzine
Another way to keep yourself physically fit for skiing is to do some yoga. As with many other activities, it’s fun to do it with other people rather than alone. In Morzine you can find private yoga classes one on one with Emily Ruth Yoga. These private classes can be taken anywhere in Morzine, you can do it at your apartment in Aiglon Morzine or go up into the mountains and really enjoy the scenery. They run classes in groups too for those looking to just upkeep their yoga class attendance while on holidays!
