New Ski Lifts for Winter 2019/2020 in the Portes du Soleil
Exciting new developments are under way to improve the ski lifts in Portes du Soleil this Winter, benefiting all our holiday goers staying with Aiglon Morzine. It is part of a 15 million euro project headed up by the ski lift company, SERMA, who in the words of its director, Alain Blas, are determined “to continue to invest in and improve the ski domain to make sure it stays attractive to our large and valued clientele”.
There are a few different initiatives in progress for those visiting Morzine on a Ski or Snowboarding Holiday. Work is well under way for 2 new ski lifts being built in Avoriaz to improve ski traffic flow. Firstly, a new chairlift will replace the old three-person Lechere ski lift that transported skiers and boarders from the Lindarets area to the base of the Mossettes and Brocheaux chairlifts. Then there is also a spanking new six-person chairlift creating a new connection to Champery – Les Crosets over towards Switzerland.
Both ski lifts will improve the speed of carrying skiers around the slopes – managing a cool 2600 People each an hour.
In addition to this, there are many improvements being planned to the Pistes for the upcoming Winter – including a brand new blue piste in the Abrocotine area, which will relieve congestion.
Not content with stopping here, many new developments are planned for the next two Winters. These include a base station at the top of the Rue du Bourg and a tunnel at the bottom of the Pleney lift to a new lift station at Avoriaz.
Take a look at this short video by Morzine TV highlighting the key points of all these fantastic new developments to improve this spectacular Ski area for many years to come!
