After a good sleep and filling ourselves with a great breakfast we set off early for Refuge Elena and then onto Col de Ferret. Again there was a lot of climbing ahead of us that took most of the morning. It was all pretty much rideable and absolutely stunning.
Once again at the top we met with a few walkers who were always pretty friendly, but clearly thought we were mad lugging bikes up these cols. We then set off on arguably the best descent of the trip to l'A Neuve. Some open rolling single track, into some really technical wooded sections. Looking back now if we were to get caught out and have a fall it would have been on some of these wooded sections, but our confidence was high and we were all riding well so we made it to lunch unscathed. There was only time far a quick snack, then some balcony action and back into some of the amazing trails again until we reached the valley floor. We then had a nice 1000m road climb up to the very scenic Lac Champex where are a small detour round the entire lake we managed to find our digs for the night and once again reflect on the days riding whilst we ate and had a few beers.
By this point of the trip I really felt settled into the routine of it. I felt like I could do it forever.
