Why should you choose Morzine for your ski holiday? There are many factors that make it the perfect winter destination, however I would like to firstly dispel the myth that all resorts around the 1000m level do not have good snow records. Records prove that The Portes du Soleil and especially Avoriaz, which Morzine is closely linked to, has a great snowfall record. Apparently this is to do with the shape of our valley and our proximity to Lake Geneva. All I know is that I have lived here now for over 15 years and have skied from the 10th December to the end of April every winter season.
Whether traveling as a couple, a family, or large group, here are five reasons why Morzine is the ultimate Christmas destination.
Every year, I travel to Morzine with my family at Easter, and I always, always have a great week on the pistes.
It's amazing how many people overlook the late season, and especially late season in Morzine, but you really are missing a trick.
You may have heard already that there are 2 new lifts being installed that will greatly improve the link between Morzine and Avoriaz from the SuperMorzine bubble.
The old Proclou and Seraussaix chair lifts could not cope with the volume of traffic, and are being upgraded to high-speed chair lifts which will reduce waiting times. This will be complete in time for the Winter 2014/15 season start.
One of the additional benefits is that the Seraussaix lift has been moved over by around 100m and finished higher up, which means that there will be a new track with more gradient down to join Tetras and Zore for the return to Morzine - a much-needed improvement especially for snowboarders, as it means no scooting/walking along the flat, and no need to use the drag lift either!
The old lifts have been recycled, and will be used at Chatel to link Linga to Super Chatel - no more bus ride needed!
Check out our infographic which shows why Morzine is such a popular ski destination for the whole season. With some great offers on their way for the end of the 2013/14 winter season, it really makes sense to come to Morzine!
Coming to Morzine in February? You’re in for a treat as locals have tipped record snowfall this season.
Beginners are obviously the main group of people who truly require lessons. This is paramount both for their safety and the safety of those around them. It may sound a bit boring and earnest but the basis of any good lesson is the old instructors’ saying: 'SAFETY/ENJOYMENT/LEARNING'.
If you feel safe and comfortable in your environment and are having fun you will be much more inclined to relax and try new things, which in turn results in a positive learning experience.
A great instructor involves you in the progress and helps you make the most of your practise time between lessons, allowing you to take charge of your own learning.
Avoriaz has announced a special lift pass, available from March 29th to April 6th 2014. This new 6-day lift pass, priced at €156 for adults and €114 for children (about 30% less than the usual Portes du Soleil pass) will allow holders to ski in the morning and then gain admission to the tropical swimming pool complex, Aquariaz, in the afternoon.
