If you’re looking for a family friendly ski resort this season it’s important to choose a destination that will cater for your family's needs and wants. Recently featured in The Telegraph’s 'The Best Family Ski Resorts' article, Morzine is one of the top family ski resort destinations in Europe. So what is it exactly that makes Morzine such a desirable destination for families who return time and time again?

Morzine in Winter

Located in the Alps of Eastern France, Morzine is a modern ski resort that has kept its traditional French charm. Morzine is part of the Portes du Soleil ski area that spans the French-Swiss border and has 650km of pistes across 283 runs, all connected by 197 mountain lifts. This area of skiing, and in particular Morzine, boasts diverse ski slopes from challenging black runs through to beginner and child-friendly learner slopes.

It is this beginner and intermediate terrain that draws families to the region. The runs throughout Portes Du Soleil are wide making for easy and medium runs for less-seasoned skiers and snowboarders. There are also plenty of English speaking ski schools and kids clubs in and around Morzine for first-timers giving you a little extra peace of mind.

A few days on the slopes and you’ll be sure to have worn-out little skiers so it is important to choose a destination that offers activities off the slopes too. There are plenty of restaurants in Morzine for long lazy lunches in the mountains or cafes and bars to warm up with a hot chocolate.

Ice skating is great fun for all the family but if you’re too worn out from a few days on the slopes then watching one of the competitive matches hosted every Wednesday by the ice rink is always enjoyable.

Playhouse

Morzine is home of one of the best swimming complexes in the French Alps. Aquariaz, opened in 2012 is a family orientated water park with plenty on offer for young children to teenagers, and adults.

To make your trip to Morzine truly memorable, give Husky Sledding a go - this is an exhilarating experience which also presents a fantastic opportunity to take in some of Morzine’s breathtaking scenery.
